Lahore is on high alert as dengue cases multiply rapidly following recent heavy rains. Health authorities have confirmed fresh infections across multiple zones of the city, raising concerns of a potential outbreak. Citizens are being urged to take preventive measures and maintain hygiene to reduce mosquito breeding. Officials warn that the situation could worsen if timely action is not taken.
On Wednesday, 12 new dengue fever patients were confirmed in Lahore. Seven cases emerged from the Allama Iqbal Zone, while two cases each were reported in Nishtar and Samanabad zones. Additionally, one case was recorded in the Aziz Bhatti Zone. Medical teams are monitoring patients and providing necessary treatment to prevent complications.
So far this year, Lahore has recorded a total of 76 confirmed dengue patients. Health experts emphasize that mosquito populations have surged due to recent rainfall, increasing the risk of virus transmission. Authorities are calling for public cooperation to ensure timely prevention and control efforts.
Officials are intensifying mosquito control measures, including fumigation and elimination of standing water in residential areas. Public awareness campaigns are being conducted to educate citizens about preventive steps, such as using mosquito repellents and covering water containers. Medical experts warn that without strict preventive action, the number of dengue cases may rise sharply in the coming weeks.
