Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, formally welcomed a delegation of newly appointed judges from Punjab, currently undergoing training at the Sindh Judicial Academy during their visit to the Sindh Assembly on Thursday. The Speaker also hosted a luncheon in their honor and facilitated a tour of the newly constructed Assembly building. On the occasion, Sindh Assembly Secretary G.M. Umar Farooq, Senior Special Secretary Muhammad Khan Rind, and Director General (Media) Irfan Ahmed Memon received the delegation.
The delegation first visited the old Assembly building, where Secretary G.M. Umar Farooq briefed them about its historic significance. He highlighted that it was in this very House where the historic resolution for the creation of a Muslim state was passed and where Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah delivered his landmark address on August 11, 1947. Later, in Committee Room No. 2 of the old Assembly, the judges were briefed on the legislative process of the Sindh Assembly and the working of its Secretariat.
At the conclusion of the visit, senior faculty members of the Sindh Judicial Academy presented honorary shields to Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah and Secretary G.M. Umar Farooq, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to visit the historic Sindh Assembly.
