Gujranwala: Twelve people, including a schoolteacher and students, were injured in a road accident near Sadhoke on Monday. It was reported that a school van collided with the divider due to smog. Resultantly, a schoolteacher, driver and students received injuries. The injured were rushed to a hospital by a Rescue 1122 team.
Separately, a man was crushed to death by a passenger van on Pasrur on Monday It was said that a 30 years old man was crossing the road when a van ran over him, resultantly he died on the spot. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a four years old boy died due to burn injuries in Kangni Wala on Monday. The boy, Sabir, was burnt by hot milk while playing. He was rushed to the DHQ Hospital in critical condition while doctors referred the patient to Lahore, saying that there was no burn unit at DHQ Hospital. The minor injured, however, succumbed to burn injuries injured on way to Lahore.
Women gunned down: A woman was gunned down in Baghbanpura Police Station limits on Monday.
According to details, a woman, identified as Ghazala, was going home when unidentified people opened fire on her, killing her on the spot. Investigations were underway.
CIA police arrest four: CIA police Monday claimed to have arrested four members of a dacoit gang and recovered cash and arms from them.
CIA DSP Imran Abbas Chadhar said that Ali Gadi gang was involved in dozens of robbery incidents. He said that those arrested had confessed to their crimes in preliminary investigations. “The accused would knock at doors of houses showing themselves as employees of different courier agencies and then barge into houses on gun point,” said the official.
In a separate incident, a man committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills. It was reported that Farooq, 38, an alleged drug addict had a quarrel at home after his family refused to give him money. This enraged Farooq and he swallowed poisonous pills and breathed his last at a hospital.
In yet another incident, a student tried to commit suicide in a university hostel in Gujranwala on Monday. It was reported that Iqra, a resident of Hafizabad and a student of Punjab University, swallowed poisonous pills. She was rushed to DHQ Hospital where she was being medicated by doctors.
