LAHORE: The Social Enterprise Development Centre (SEDC) at the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) recently organised a customised training programme on ‘Strategic Management and Leadership Skills’ for the senior management of the Kashf Foundation.
Twenty people participated in the four-day training session. The purpose of the training was to educate the participants in dealing with challenges and risks, necessitating them to uphold the highest standards of leadership and effective execution of their roles at different senior positions. The training sessions were successfully led by the experienced LUMS faculty, including Dr Anwar Khurshid, Dr Arif Nazir Butt, Dr Ehsanul Haque and Dr Ghazal Mir Zulfiqar. The programme addressed the need of promoting effective governance. Key issues such as the need to build the capacity of senior management and leadership in the areas of strategic management, gender sensitivity and effective team management were also discussed. The training programme explored different leadership styles, negotiation techniques, team building frameworks, self-assessment mechanisms and strategies to effectively manage change.
The instruments employed included case studies, lectures, video case study as well as interactive sessions like role plays and online simulation. The participants acknowledged and applauded the initiative. Sharing his sentiments, one of the participants said, “The training was very informative, well-structured and rich in content.” Similar sentiments were shared by Kamran Azim, COO Kashf Foundation. He said, “This training programme has helped him refresh and renew important leadership and management concepts.” An evaluation was conducted after the programme and positive feedback was given by the participants.
