PATTOKI: Punjab Chief Minister on Tuesday said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been disqualified as party president but he ‘continues to rule hearts of people’.
Addressing a rally at Pattoki after his appointment as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) interim president, Shehbaz said that Nawaz might no more be party president, the former PM however continues to rule hearts of people.
CM Shehbaz added that under the leadership of Nawaz, the party has executed various development projects. He assured that PML-N will continue to serve the people of Pakistan after the public ‘re-elects PML-N’ in the upcoming general elections.
Taking jibes at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) front runner Imran Khan, Shehbaz termed him as a ‘liar’. He said that Imran lies ‘day and night’, while he also accused the tehreek insaf chief of causing hindrances in early completion of Lahore’s Orange Line Metro Train project.
Pointing to the rally attendees, Shehbaz promised that the Nawaz league would construct a network of roads, parks and a university at Pattoki when the party gets elected to power again later this year.
Earlier today, PML-N Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting chaired by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, agreed on instating Shehbaz as the acting head of the Nawaz league. It was further announced that Nawaz is to be party president ‘for life’.
According to Maryam Nawaz, PML-N leaders Raja Zafarul Haq, PM Abbasi and Shehbaz Sharif proposed that Nawaz be elected as party Quaid for a lifetime, which was resoundingly approved by the meeting attendees.
