Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Monday directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to keep all of its inquiries discreet.
The chief justice issued the directives during a meeting with NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal in the former’s chamber. Nab prosecutor Syed Asghar Haider was also present at the meeting.
The top judge said that the anti-corruption watchdog, while filing a reference, should not insult a citizen.
Last week, the chief justice had asked the anti-corruption watchdog not to malign individuals being probed by it.
During a hearing on airing the names on the media of people being interrogated by the anti-graft body, Justice Nisar had said the NAB did not have the authority to declare someone a convict until the charges were proven.
He said that the NAB should not consider every other person a thief and refrain from maligning people because their reputation would be ruined, even if they came out clear of the charges pressed against them.
