Another key leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Nadeem Afzal Chan, who was considered as one of the close aides of PPP supremo Asif Ali Zardari, met Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence and announced to join the PTI.
PTI spokesperson Fawad Hussain in his tweet said that both leaders also held a discussion on the current political situation in the country.
Starting his political career as tehsil nazim from Malakwal in 2001, Chan was elected to the National Assembly from NA-64 constituency in 2008 general elections on PPP’s ticket. He also contested the 2013 general elections from the same constituency but could not win.
In October last year, he resigned from his post as PPP’s Punjab general secretary. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co-Chairman Asif Zardari tried to convince him to take back the resignation but he refused.
PPP stalwarts Dr Babar Awan, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Imtiaz Safdar Warraich and Nawabzada Ghazanfar Gul have already joined the PTI.
