Superintendent of Police (SP) Tahir Dawar was tortured to death a few days before his body was found dumped in Durbaba district of the eastern Nangarhar province, post-mortem report of the martyred police officer revealed on Wednesday.
Dawar had gone missing from Islamabad on October 27 and his death was confirmed by Afghan government on November 14. The police officer’s body along with his service card was found by locals in Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
The post-mortem report, handed over to Islamabad police for investigation, revealed that Dawar’s death took place a few days before his body was recovered. It said the late police officer was subjected to severe torture and even the bones of his fingers and foot were broken. However, no bullet signs were found on the body, according to the report.
The report further revealed that stomach of the police officer was empty, depicting that his kidnappers didn’t provide him with water or food for days.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has already directed KP chief minister, IGP and Islamabad IGP to conduct inquiry into the killing and submit a report. Reportedly, a joint investigation team is investigating as to how SP Tahir was kidnapped from Islamabad and later shifted to Afghanistan despite strict security in the capital and checking at security pickets near the Pak-Afghan border in Waziristan.
